Lucious Spiller @ BB's Jazz, Blues, and Soups Downtown STL (June 2015)
Lucious Spiller (UCHS c/o 1981) was back in St. Louis from his home base of Little Rock, Arkansas over a weekend and played some rock/souil/blues for an audience full of St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals baseball fans, some family, and friends at BB's Jazz, Blues, and Soups on Broadway near the banks of the Mississippi River. His usual territory for playing the blues is in Memphis, Mississippi, and Arkansas, but his trip home to see family brought some of his funky Southern cooking back up the Big Muddy to the shadow of The Arch.

Vince Corkery & Jon Ferber @ Joanie's Pizzeria In Soulard (July 2017)
Before the long gap in reporting and finding people for the documentary project between, roughly, 2014 and 2017, Rod had chatted with UCHS c/o 1975 bassist Vince Corkery based on a tip by several other project participants from around his era at U. City High. After about a 2 year span, Rod found the old chat with Vince and contacted him again. Immediately, Vince told him that he was playing with his band "Western Satellites" in Soulard at Joanie's Pizzeria on Russell Street. He also let him know that his fellow UCHS c/o 1975 mate Jon Ferber would be playing in the western swing style band as well on guitar. It took no thought to make sure to go and try to meet the two classmates from the mid 70s and try to set up another time for stills and video and even interviews. This picture was the result of that initial meeting.

Stan Ford @ Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis (September 2018)
This picture of Stan Ford (UCHS c/o 1975) was a fortuitous "get", like so many other pictures in this entire series. Stan is a concert pianist and distinguished professor for piano at The University Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria and has been there since 1986. He happened to be visiting his hometown and family while also giving a talk/performance for a friend at Harris-Stowe State University in the city of St. Louis when we heard that he was in town. We'd heard about him for years and hadn't yet had the chance to make any documentary related trips to see people that could be involved in the project in Europe. So we went to the university and had a great time talking to him about his performances around the world, appearances on TV, his start with music in the Baptist Church of Holy Communion on Hanley near Olive in U. City, his father being a dean in the early days of Forest Park Community College, and many other topics. We captured one song that he did play at his presentation to a class on video, but we hope to see him perform in other locations around the world in the future.

DJ Charlie Chan Soprano at c/o 88 Reunion @ Mad Art in St. Louis (October 2018).
This is DJ Charlie Chan Soprano (UCHS c/o 1988) on the 1s and 2s performing for his classmates for their 30-year University City High School class reunion. "Chan", as they know him, is currently the DJ for the legendary hip-hop group Run-DMC and is the personal DJ for DMC and his foundation and has been for nearly a decade since the passing of the groups original DJ Jam Master Jay. He went "old school" this night in every sense of the phrase by doing what he does for some of the very first people he ever did it for back in the 1980s...from house parties to official high school dances. This was a homecoming party for sure.

Ricky Baker (Rico) @ BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups (October 2018)
This is the second time that we met Ricky Baker (UCHS c/o 1975) while he was playing a gig in the St. Louis area with his Chicago based band "RICO". This time, instead of being outside in Heman Park in University City (like he was in 2014), he was playing in downtown St. Louis at the club BB's Jazz, Blues and Soups. His Latin rock/funk band got the crowd up on their feet and dancing on a cool October night. (And, yes, he is using two guitars at once.) The personnel in this configuration of the RICO band was:
Ricky Baker - Guitar & Vocals
Joe Rendon - Congas
Jaime Claudio - Timbales
Ray Roque - Drums
Jesse Tobias - Bass
Jesse Gannon - Keys
Ugochi Nwaogwugwu - Vocals
Juan Miguel - Rapper
